Austrian Levant 5s. red and 15s. brown in a hotizontal strip of five, one or two perfs. detached and 5s. with contemporary tear, all tied by fine strikes of BERUTTI datestamps of the Austrian P.O. (17/2) in black to attractive 80 soldi double weight cover to NEW YORK (USA). Framed FRANCO in red on front and mss. 50 alongside in crayon, circular NEW YORK PAID ALL datestamp in red (March 19). Cover from RETTIMO, CRETE to PIRAEUS franked by Austrian Levant 1867 5 s. red in a horizontal pair, slight aging on perfs. at left, tied by RETTIMO datestamp in blue (March 17) on despatch (Tchilinghirian fig. 549), taxed on arrival for internal delivery with manuscript ´20´ in blue crayon and franked by 1871 20 l. blue tied by dotted ´2´ numeral handstamp with reverse showing PIRAEUS cds (March 8, Julian). Braila (Ibraila) 1867: 2 s. yellow, a horizontal pair, used on 1868 Printed Matter entire letter to Trieste tied by superb "JBRAILA" cds (July 14) in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 730). Reverse with Triest oval arrival datestamp in black. An exquisite and very rare entire - the sole recorded such franking from Ibraila.

Asia Minor 1869 (March 11): Cover from the Dardanelles to Trieste, showing internal docketing by the recipient "Dardanelli 11 Marzo 1869", bearing a combination franking of 1864 Arms 2 s. yellow perf. 9½, a well embossed strip of three and 1867 Coarse whiskers 10 s. blue, fresh and fine examples with good perforation, tied by indistinct "IN DEN DARDANELLEN 12 / 3" cds (Tranmer fig. 4) in black, reverse with oval TRIEST arrival datestamp (March 19). The spectacular franking including the 2 soldi adhesive overpays the 15 soldi Lloyd rate by one soldo, a horizontal file fold well away from the franking was internally stabilized, the address partially redrawn, nevertheless an exceptional cover from the very rare postal office.
