1844 BERHAMPORE: Cover plus contents sent from Berhampore (Nov. 1844) to Sir H. Maddock (Deputy Governor of Bengal from 1845-1849), endorsed "Free" in m/s on front, and on the reverse with first struck in error boxed "BERHAMPORE/Paid" (Giles No.6), then amended/crossed out to to "BERHAMPORE/.../FREE" oval (unrecorded h/s), and with boxed "P.M." and Calcutta "G.P.O./18 Nov..." arrival h/s, all in red. In this form a very rare and important reference item.
