1897-1944 Covers and cards with Cape Colony Ocean Post Office datestamps (14); Union of South Africa Ocean P.O c.d.s (2); Paquebot datestamps of Durban (10), Cape Town (15) or Mossel Bay (2); and WW2 Fleet Mail Office cancels of Durban (3, one also with a Paquebot datestamp), also a cover with a Naval censor and G.B 10d cancelled "JH" of Johannesburg. An interesting lot with some unusual WW2 dumb type Paquebots, one bearing G.B and KUT stamps, a rubber type cancel of Cape Town (unlisted by Hosking, possibly a forgery), the Mossel Bay marks scarce. 1929 Green registered Ocean Letter envelope to Zanzibar bearing 1926 1d and 1927 2d, 3d cancelled by two strikes of the large distorted "ASSISTANT SHIPPING POSTMASTER / CAPE TOWN" datestamp (Allen type 9a) in violet, further strikes on the front and reverse, also backstamped at Zanzibar. A couple of small opening tears to upper edge, otherwise fine and scarce. Photo on Page 201.

c.1930-37 Covers including commercial cover to Candia with 2 1/2pi cancelled by oval £Lloyd Triestino Agenzia Candia£ cachet, 1932 cover with 1924-28 1£4pi cancelled "PFO PILSNA / LLOYD TRIESTINO" c.d.s and handstamped violet "PAQUEBOT" at Jaffa, and covers cancelled by Khedival Mail Line cachets (11, three with Egypt stamps) for the S.S Fouadien, Rashid, Taif, Boulac or Bilbeis, most of these philatelic but a 1930 "Bilbeis" cover franked 1 1/2pi to London clearly commercial. Also a 1937 "Cyprus Mail" with a P.O notice giving sailing dates from Cyprus. (16).

1942 Cover to Alexandria per S.S "Fouadieh" franked 2pi cancelled blue circular "CUSTOMS / FAMAGUSTA" containing the royal arms, the reverse with two further strikes and a handstamp of the Collector of Customs certifying the envelope contained shipping documents relating to the cargo and crew of the "Fouadieh". Also the reverse of a 1941 envelope with 1 1/2pi and 2 1/2pi pair cancelled by similar "CUSTOMS / LIMASSOL" cachets and endorsed "Seen, ships documents", and a commercial cover to London with KGVI 1/2pi, 1pi cancelled "KHEDIVIAL MAIL LINE / S.S FOUADIEH". A very unusual trio, the scarce £Customs£ cancels both ex Cruttwell. (3).
