China, 1926-41, Unusual Group of 8 China Airmail Covers, a nice group, including a 4¢ Sinkiang card used by Mencarini from the Philippines, a 6 Nov 1941 missionary cover from Kaying to the U.S. via Hong Kong with violet "Not opened by censor" and red script "By Chinese Air Service to Hong Kong Only" handstamps, a couple Peiping to Nanking flights, 1936 Canton-Hanoi flight, etc., nice varied group, Fine to Very Fine, examine.

China, 1929, Interrupted Flight cover from Hankow to Shanghai, lovely, neat cover addressed to Shanghai, franked on reverse by 4¢ Junk and 15¢ Second Airmail Issue, each tied by Hankow c.d.s.'s, Very Fine, includes original newspaper article of the mishap.

Plane was forced down at Woosung and crashed into a launch, with mail transferred to Shanghai (receiver), where violet 2-line boxed handstamp "Received wet (Shanghai L.O.)" with second line in Chinese. We could find no mention of this handstamp.

China, 1932, Sven Hedin Expedition complete (Chan 329-332. Scott 307-310), an amazing and historical Sven Hedin piece, comprising a Registered cover from Peking to New York, bearing vertical pairs of the complete issue, tied by "Peiping 2.9.33" bilingual CDSs, with reverse showing Shanghai Sept 4 transit and New York Sept 30 registry oval and violet New York Oct 2 receiver; additional 10¢ Martyr issue also tied to back, fresh and Very Fine, the ultimate Sven Hedin piece.

The cover is addressed by Hedin (in his own hand) to "H.M. Clark Esq., c/o Scott Stamp and Coin Co" in New York, and includes the full letter from Hedin to Clark dated Sept 1, 1933, replying to Clark that he has posted this letter with the stamps of his Expedition and that he "hope[s] the stamp is quite worthy of being entered in your famous catalogue." A mint set is hinged on the bottom of the letter.
