Welcome to our Fall Public Auction. We are offering a marvelous range including many scarce and desirable rarities.
Great Britain and British Europe: GB features a 4-margin mint 10d embossed as well as a 1½dgrey mauve and 8d purple-brown unissued values. Cyprus and Gibraltar £5 stamps are here as is Malta’s “key” 10/- both mint and used.
British Africa: British Central Africa (Nyasaland) offers £5 and £10 values. Madagascar shows 28 lots of the large Consular Mail issues. Natal highlights a £5 (mint and used) St. Helena showcases the “Tristan Relief” set (never hinged!). Sierra Leone ranges up to £5 values and Togo features nice British Occupation rarities and overprint varieties. Zanzibar shines with 25 lots of the challenging “2½” surcharge provisionals.
British Asia: Hong Kong has a superb mint $10 Q Victoria, there are some interesting stamps of Malaya (and states) and India (with a few states).
British North America: Canada has superb mint Jubilees to the $5 and Newfoundland the 1860 1/- orange-vermilion. Cayman Islands shows the ½d on 5/- double overprint and Grenada weighs in with a mint #1 – 6d bluish green.
British Oceania: Fiji has some “Times Express” stamps (4!) while New Britain features British Occupation overprints to the 1M. New Zealand closes with several “O.P.S.O.” lots and the Australian state of Victoria has the very rare 1850 1d bright rose imperf Q Victoria (SG 27b, with certificate and huge margins).
