We are offering a marvelous range including many scarce and desirable rarities from a number of estates and collections.
Great Britain and British Europe: Great Britain features a mint “Penny Black”(Plate 6); a 1856 4d Medium Garter, perf 14 mint; 1860 1½d rosy mauve unissued shade; 1880 2/- brown wing-margin mint; 1867 5/- rose mint Maltese Cross (Plate 1); 1882 £1 brown-lilac, superb, used; 1882 £5 orange on blued paper; 1913 £1 green never hinged; 20+ lots of Officials including a mint 5/- “I R Official”; Levant errors; Cyprus has a 1923 £1, rare used.
British Africa: Bechuanaland 1888 2d on 2d green overprint (superb with Brandon certificate); British Central Africa has a 1d on 3/- “PNNEY” error in a block of 9 (few blocks known); Cameroons “C.E.F.” complete used – all very rare thus!; Cape of Good Hope shows a mint 1a(1) with Sismondo certificate, a 4d blue on blue used block of 4; a 39 (46) mint with an RPSL certificate; Mafeking with a “large” mint General Baden-Powell; Gambia with U.P.U. specimen in strips of 5 (one malformed “S”!); Gold Coast 95 (102) £2 very rare used; rare Griqualand pane and large blocks; Kenya mint £4; Madagascar features 16 different; some scarce New Republics; Rhodesia shines with mint £10 and scarce £2 rosy red on thick paper; Sierra Leone has scarce surcharges and a 1923 £5 mint; South West Africa shows a rare used £1 pair; Togo 1914 50pf mint, 1M used (tied to piece), 2M Occupation double overprint used (1 of 8 known!).
British Asia: India 25 (65) 8a carmine – the greatest perforated Q Victoria mint regular issue; Patiala 23 (29) 2R overprint – very rare used; we show some better Jordan; Federated Malaya States 13A (14) $25 – the first used example we have offered by us in our 50 years!
British North America: Canada has a range of choice classics, Jubilees complete, several $ values superb; British Columbia & Vancouver Island features 3 (11) the “key” 5¢ rose imperf, mint, expertized.
British Oceania: Cook Islands and Niue have many great rarities!; Fiji with 4 different “Times Express”; New Britain up to the 3/- on 3M, mint; New Zealand shines with classics and Officials; North West Pacific Islands features rare and key values plus overprint errors.
