MAIL OF SAILORS OF THE CRUISER ADMIRAL GRAF SPEE at first "interned" and then "prisoners" of war in several camps in Argentina: Cover sent from Leipzig to sailor Ewald Niewiak on 9/JA/1932, at the time in the internment camp in Mendoza. The cover was addressed to the German Consulate in that city, which then forwarded the mail to the sailors. With POSTAL FRANCHISE, censor marks, and arrival datestamp (light, on back), excellent quality, very rare!

With Nazi and Allied censor mark, and arrival mark for 18/AP/1945 (5 ½ months later!!), minor defects, very fine appearance, very rare!

Authorization dated 16/JA/1941 to sailor (corporal) J. Klinkmüller to leave the camp on Martín García island to Buenos Aires, carrying a suitcase with clothes and personal effects. He was granted these permits to visit his girlfried (later his wife), many of the sailors interned in camps in Argentina met people from the German community, who visited and helped them, and a good number of the sailors married Argentine women, and after being repatriated, they returned to Argentina and settled here!
