1938-49 - Stamp Auctions
Lot 27128 - st. helena 1938-49 - UPA UPA Auction UPA 95KGVI: 46 stamps with all printings identified - ideal for the specialist collector. Three sheets (album pages) purchased in the 1950's, were stated by the vendor to be 'The L.N. and M. Williams reference collection.' They have not been altered in any way since purchase. Two tables setting out details of the issues have been identified - the Shelton and Potter table published in 'Stamp Collecting' on 6th April 1951 and a more comprehensive table, source and date unknown. This lists three stamps issued in 1951 (which are not mentioned in the other table) and consequently must be of a later date. It appears therefore to be the Williams table, particularly as it matches closely the stamps. A copy of this table is included. Collection is 3 x ½d, 1 x 1d green, 7 x 1d yellow-orange, 3 x 1½d, 3 x 2d, 1 x 3d ultramarine, 4 x 3d grey, 2 x 4d, 3x 6d, 2 x 8d sage-green, 2 x 8d olive-green, 5 x 1s, 2 x 2/6d, 2 x 5s, 3 x 10s, and one each of the new colours.
