 Lot 161 - great britain postal history Christmas Cancels - Argyll Etkin Ltd Worldwide Stamps and Postal History1905 Picture postcard (a Photo of pigs!) to Great Yarmouth with KEVII 1/2d tied by violet oval "MANCHESTER / ADVANCE POSTED / CHRISTMAS ....", the year not readable in the cancel though the sender has clearly dated the message 1905. A scarce use of this violet datestamp on a postcard and most unusually addressed to Great Yarmouth, the advance posting scheme supposedly only for local mail at this date. Photo on Page 24.  Lot 157 - great britain postal history Christmas Cancels - Argyll Etkin Ltd Worldwide Stamps and Postal History1903 Picture postcard posted in advance for delivery on Christmas day, bearing KEVII 1/2d tied by "NORWICH / 575" duplex in red with the day and month omitted, the year 03 with the "3" inverted. 28 Towns participated in the Advance Posting scheme in 1903, most being issued with the special oval cancels; however at least two towns, Norwich and Cheltenham, failed to receive these special cancels presumably in error, and therefore used their normal datestamps in red ink with the date omitted on mail posted in advance for Christmas day delivery.
