1898. Envelope used from Santa Clara to Aix en Provence in France bearing 2c turquoise and 6c blue (Yvert 137+141) in combination with tax stamp 2c violet-brown surcharged 'Impuesto de Guerra' (Yv. 3) all tied "SAN CLARA/7 JUL 98" double ring d/s in blue, with arrival dater on reverse. The cover with a central vert. fold but still fine. A very rare use of the War Tax surcharge stamp on commercial mail to France.

Stampless envelope to France written from Guayama (30 July 1847) with boxed 'Guayama' in red and adjacent 'Franco' hand-stamp in red, routed via the British Post Office with 'San Juan-Porto Rico' on reverse and boxed Anglo French accountancy 'Colonies & c Art 13' in red with London transit, taxed '15' on arrival in m/s with La Rochelle receiver on reverse. Superb, the only known boxed Guayama handstamp in red on a cover to France, and the earliest Guayama cover to France ever.
