"Split Rates" 1862/64: Great Britain 6 d. lilac, a single example used on 1863 cover from London to to Mrs. Higginson, wife of the Governor of Mauritius in Savanne, endorsed "via Southampton" and tied by 'London / W12' duplex (Aug 18). Carried by P&O steamer "Pera" from Southampton to Alexandria aand the "Norna" from Suez to destination with arrival cds on reverse (Sept 25). Struck with "4½d." handstamp in red to denote the credit to Mauritius. Flap stain on reverse but a fine appearing cover.
