5l. PS military card to Arachova Levadeias, franked with additional Charity stamp 5l./50l., canc. "ΠΑΤΡΑΙ (ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΗ) * -1.ΣΕΠ.17", arr. telegraphic "ΤΗΛ. ΓΡ. ΑΡΑΧΩΒΗΣ (ΒΟΙΩΤΙΑΣ) * 15.ΑΥΓ.17". From 1.4.1917 to 7.9.1917 the use of Charity stamps was obligatory on all mail as supplementary tax (Hellas p.473). The rate for PS cards was 1l. while 5l. was for letters or letter-cards. Charity OVERPAID by 4l. (Hellas C10). Small tear at top right corner.
