Sale 64 William E. Jones Collection of China Silver Yuan Stamps and Postal History

China, Kansu-Ninghsia-Tsinghai : 1949 (7 May) Silver Yuan Unit stamps handstamped overprint in violet on Domestic Ordinary Unit stamp orange and in red on Domestic Airmail Unit stamp green, each in a horizontal pair, the former with sheet margin at foot, fine to very fine and fresh unused, the Domestic Ordinary Unit stamp has manuscript notation in sheet margin on reverse. Extremely rare in multiples - according to William E. Jones, the overprinting was actually done in pairs. CSS 1462-1463; Chan S68-S69.
