1872 Third Issue (1st Printing) 5pa., 10pa., 20pa. and two 2pi. used on cover front 1874 from Cairo to Michigan, U.S.A. via London and Chicago, Ill. tied by "V.R. POSTE EGIZIANE CAIRO/...74/T III" cds and bearing sender oval in blue, small boxed "PD" in black, London PAID '19 JA 74' transit cds in red, US credit marking "2/CENTS" in red and two strikes of Chicago 'Paid All 8 FE 74' cds in red. Stamps with few shortened perfs at top but fresh and fine so far. Although it is a cover front only, this four-colour franking (correct for 1pi. from Cairo to Alexandria and 3pi. and 35pa. for British Postage by sea, up to US landing port (PD)) is quite scarce and most attractive.
