Cuba Outgoing Mail 1814-38. Two entire letters from Havana to Vilanova i la Geltrú and Madrid (Spain), the former endorsed "Fragta. Ana", both displaying two-line "Islas De/Barlovento" handstamp (P.E. 3) in red and, scarcely found, in blue, the latter being accompanied by an unusual "17.R" rate marking. A very fine and scarce duo.

Large cover from Havana to Omoa (Honduras), from the "Superintendencia de Tabacos de La Habana", placed on board the "Ana María" schooner as per sender's directive, superbly handstruck with small "Indias" straight-line handstamp (P.E. 37) in black. A handwritten notation on reverse indicates "1 Ø" (weight) & "12 r" (postage) as per 1815 tariff. A remarkable usage of this postmark, with only four items known...

Vertical fold. The only cover recorded with this postmark in this colour.

Entire letter from Havana via Cádiz (as endorsed) to Bordeaux, neatly postmarked with "Islas De/Barlovento" two-line type (P.E. 33), very infrequently struck in black on departure, "Espagne/Par Bayonne" entry marking in France and annotated "15" (grams) and "20" (décimes) as per 15-20 grams rate. A very rare and early entire to France, and one of only about five items known with this postmark in black.

Entire letter from Havana to Barcelona, probably carried via Cádiz, disinfected with application of two slits, attractively handstamped with red "Islas De/Barlovento" two lines (P.E. 6) and "5R" due marking for the single rate, with receiving datestamp on reverse. A very early entire with this scarce type.

Cuba Outgoing Mail 1820 circa. Cover front to Madrid, carried by the "Palas" ship (vertical endorsement), bearing red "Cuba" straight-line of Santiago and two-line "Islas De/Barlovento" (P.E. 5) postmarks. The postage, to be paid by the recipient, is indicated by the "335.R" marking, equivalent to 19 ounces and 12 adarmes (1805 tariff), this being one of the highest known rates from Cuba in its extensive colonial period.

Entire letter from Havana to Madrid, carried via the Lazareto de Mahón (Minorca, Balearic Islands), where three groups of concentric slits of disinfection were applied, resulting in a most unusual design, bearing very fine "Yndias" straight line (P.E. 5), and "5R" marking to pay the amount due on delivery. Extremely attractive.

Entire letter from Havana via Santander to San Sebastián (Spain), bearing "De Yndias" straight-line handstamp (P.E. 8), rate markings of Santander represented by "5", "Rs." and "1", the 5 reales covering the maritime fee and 1 cuarto being a war tax, all resulting in a very scarce combination with the straight-line postmark.
