Original photo taken from a scene of a film about Jerusalem, 1935: scene depicts mixed group of males & females, young & old at a section of the Western Wall (Kotel), here with subtitle affixed "The Western Wall - the Wall of Hope and of Tears!"; printed on Agfa paper (23.9 x 17.9cm) by Carmel Films Ltd. and numbered "34". Company founded by Nathan Axelrod in 1935 to produce news segments before screening of films; Axelrod gained distinction as the sole film-recorder of Israel's declaration of Independence (1948). Some creases & repaired tear at bottom right.
