1850: 1 d. gooseberry red on hard greyish paper, Plate II, position 20, a used example with good to huge margins all round in this scarce shade, tied to local Sydney Drop Letter to George Street by barred obliterator in black. Fine strike of framed "6 / O'CLOCK" handstamp at right in black, the reverse with circular "SYDNEY / ♚ / NEW SOUTH WALES" datestamp (Jan 17) in black. Not recorded in the Palmer cover census. An extremely rare usage of the gooseberry shade on a local letter. Cert. Holcombe (1992).rnrn
