The Richard D. Miggins Collection of the Philippines is undoubtedly one of the finest ever assembled for this country. Whereas many collections specialize in merely one era of the Philippines’s history, Mr. Miggins was able to acquire many key items from the Spanish, American, and Japanese administrations. It is our hope that the catalogue of his collection will be an important resource for generations of collectors to come.

One of the most interesting items to come from Sale 3013 is a set of 15 imperforate sheets presented by Postmaster General James A. Farley to the Third Assistant Postmaster General in 1934. No more than a handful of these sheets were ever produced from the original printing, and many have since been broken up or ended up in museums. Therefore, these sheets represent rare chance to own a true piece of philatelic history. As always, there are many other items of interest in our regular sale. A massive dealer stock of United States and worldwide postal history and a collection of high-grade mint United States stamps are just two of the properties we are proud to be offering; with over 175 unique consignors, this sale represents our most diverse offering in quite some time.
The "Global Philatelic Network’s rarities auction by H.R. HARMER in cooperation with Corinphila, Heinrich Köhler and John Bull" will be held, in the spirit of "keeping the best for last", on the last day of the World Stamp Show New York 2016, 3 June 2016, at 1 pm. Valuable philatelic rarities from all over the world will be offered for sale in two parts, with emphasis on the collecting areas of United States and the Confederate States.
A highlight of the first part of the auction is a "postmaster provisional" 10 c. stamp of Marion, Virginia on a letter to Kingston, Tennessee with a starting price of $US15,000. Only seven of these stamps are known on cover. Stamps and blocks of the Spanish Philippines are offered as another highlight. An unused block of four of the 5c. stamp of the 1855 issue adorns the catalogue and starts at $US15,000. Then a selection of philatelic gems of the Confederate and United States from the "Erivan" collection comes up for sale. Among other items from the time of the "Postmaster Provisionals" is a cover of 1861 with the 10c. Blue stamp of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, awaiting a new owner with a $US35,000 starting price. It is the only known example of this stamp on cover. From the same year a postal stationery envelope of Nashville, Tennessee with additional franking is on offer. The 10c. Green Nashville stamp is combined with US stamps on the cover, cancelled with the Adams Express Co. postmark and carried by this firm. The cover is estimated at $US40,000.
