Poland - Stamp Auctions
The Kingdom of Poland was one of the largest kingdoms in Europe later part of the 18th Century when it was conquered and partitioned between the Prussian, Austrian, and Russian Empires. The struggle to regain the national identity and to preserve their cultural heritage has been documented by stamps of Poland.
In the aftermath of World War I the former Polish territories were used to create the new Republic of Poland. During WWII the former republic became a province of the Greater Third Reich. This resulted in atrocities that have documented on the commemorative postage stamps of Poland. In 1945, after the defeat of Nazi Germany, the nation of Poland was restored to be later controlled by Communist People's Republic. Today Poland is a member of the European Union.
About 4,500 different postage stamps have been issued since 1918; this number doesn't include local stamps, special issues, or foreign occupation stamps. Collecting Polish stamps can offer many years of enjoyment by offering classical and many different thematic collecting possibilities.
