Lot 1000 - lagos - Corbitts Sale #1521892 (12 Sep) Officer's envelope (complete with contents) from Eric Campbell at Jebu Ode to his brother, Sir Duncan Campbell at Barcandine in London and re-directed to Wimbledon, bearing 1891 2\xBDd ultramarine, tied by oval of bars & with London squared circle (22nd Oct) alongside, showing '2\xBD' in red crayon & 'PAID LIVERPOOL BR. PACKET' c.d.s. (22nd Oct) at left, the reverse with Government House imprint (deleted), Lagos (20th Sep) & London (22nd Oct) c.d.s. The contents refer to the local flora & fauna, a visit from the Governor who is a keen collector of butterflies, the envelope with a few stains in places though a most unusual cover, the writer serving with Lagos Expeditionary Force against the Jebu tribe.
