1961 MONROE, Marilyn (born Norma Jeane Mortenson,1926-1962) an American actress, model, and singer, who became a major sex symbol, starring in a number of commercially successful motion pictures during the 1950s and early 1960s. A typewritten note on personal embossed stationery (6x9inches), dated July 14, 1961 to her chauffeur "Dear Rudy, Thank you for your message. I'm sorry I was delayed with the check but thanks again for taking care of things after I left. I send my love", signed "Marilyn" (addressed to Mr. Rudy Kautzky in Los Angeles). The letter sheet has been extensively folded and has been strengthened in places, the signature is rather faint (probably due to exposure to light, as it has been framed and professionally matted under glass.), ex-Superior Auctions 1992 -

1944 Dr. Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965), German, later French physician (also theologian, musician and philosopher) and medical missionary in Africa. He received the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of "Reverence for Life", expressed in many ways, but most famously in founding and sustaining the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambarene, now in Gabon, west central Africa (then French Equatorial Africa), letter from Dr.Schweitzer's hospital, dated 11 March 1944 and signed by him, also the corresponding envelope to England, censored, plus four additional covers from the hospital, one addressed in Schweitzer's hand.
