MEXICO. 1862 (July 27). Cover to the Paymaster of the Expeditionary Force at VERA CRUZ, franked for single rate by British Ship with 183 10c. bistre and 40c. orange tied by petit chiffres of Jussey. Manuscript notation at left ´8.5´ (grams) and thus above the 7½ gram single rate. Charged ´7´ decimes due in manuscript on front. Small envelope faults but scarce.

Originally treated as underpaid with framed AFFRANCHISEMENT / INSUFFISANT in black deleted in pencil when the P.O. clerk noted the address.
