This catalogue no.102 contains 885 lots ranging from the Ancient Italian States, to the Kingdom, to the Republic, Trieste, Colonies, Occupations and Military Mail, Air Mail, Sea Routes, Postal Stationery and a part of foreign countries. There is a strong presence of Sicilian retouches and a nice collection of cancellations from Naples and the Naples Provinces, with interesting floating cancellations.

Philately and Postal History are present in Vaccari public auction, catalogue no.91.
As usual, very developed is the whole section devoted to Italian States with postal history but with a prevailing wide proposal of good and very good quality postage stamps, among which prestigious examples.
Very interesting and substantial also the Italian Kingdom, peculiar destinations or mail “incoming” in Italy, and foreign countries, with the second segment (countries J to U) of “Europe Collection 1843-1958”, hundreds of postage stamps used and/or unused at really advantageous prices.
A large section is devoted to Air Mail, from the first Italian small flights of the ‘20ies-’30ies and some rare postcards to a wonderful overview of Zeppelin flights, mainly of LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin with also important rarities of the 1933 Cruise in Italy and numerous covers both Italian and foreign.
Rocket mail is well represented with pioneer launches of the ‘30ies, and there is a special selection of Space mail focused on recent flights with China, the “first time” of Korea in 2008 and the International Space Station, with space letters to/from, among which lot 1035 returned to the Earth aboard Space Shuttle STS-124.

Very interesting is the Italian classic material, which Vaccari is specialist in, and all the Italian area in general. Very rich is the section of the Italian Kingdom. In addition to the Italian States and Kingdom, other sections are devoted to preadhesive, Risorgimento, Italian Social Republic and Regency, Italian Republic, Trieste, Italian post offices abroad, colonies, occupations and military.
Well represented is also the part with peculiar destinations or mail “incoming” in Italy and the foreign section where the first segment of the “Europe Collection 1840-1955” is introduced, with countries, in alphabetical order, from A to I, 51 lots of postage stamps used and/or unused at very interesting prices.

In the section devoted to Philately and Postal History, lots range from “various subjects” to foreign destinations and/or mail to Italy, that is “Incoming Mail”. Italian classic material, which Vaccari are specialist in, is mainly represented; there are Preadhesive and Old Italian States, among which different rarities emerge in an absolute sense, and the Italian Kingdom is well represented. Also the modern section, such as Italian Republic and S.Marino, is provided with good material. Generally speaking, interesting items can be found in single lots, but in bulky ones too.

In Philately and Postal History, rarities and items for any kind of collection can be found, both of high and low value; anyway, of very good general importance. They start from Preadhesive and arrive up to present days, with the Old Italian States, Risorgimento, the Italian Kingdom, Italian Social Republic and Republic, but also foreign countries, destinations and mail to Italy, that is “Incoming Mail”, Italian Post offices abroad, colonies, occupations and military.
The section for Air Mail, Zeppelin, Rocket Mail offers an interesting historical overview of Italian, Italian colonies and foreign Aviation. Space, besides the complete sheet with 5 USA ex. “Unknown Astronaut”, is centred above all on USSR/Russia, from 1957 to 2011; then the International Space Station ISS; and China with a wonderful group of space letters, with Shenzhou-1/3/4/6/8 from 1999 to 2011; the really rare lot 988, first document (BF) flown onto the first Chinese Space Station Tiangong-1 (Paradise 1). At the end, 2 Italian lots: one is a commemorative cover; the other one a rare cover flown onto Mir and left from Italy in 1996.
In “Vito Salierno” D’Annunzio Library, original editions, critical and biographical essays, other copies of original editions and reprints, also at present on sale and/or popular editions, Quaderni Dannunziani, Quaderni del Vittoriale, magazines, among which the famous “Eroica” of 1938 devoted to Gabriele D’Annunzio, the infinite source of historical and iconographical information represented by Professor Salierno’s personal notes and press releases archives.
