HORSESHOE ROUTE With Italy entering WWII in June 1940 all routes across the Mediterranean were suspended. African routes were Cairo-Durban & then by ship to UK. Eastern routes to Australia went via Singapore until the fall of Singapore in February 1942. At which point the route stopped at Calcutta.
Sydney-England, 1/6d postage paid meter mark Sydney 4 Nov 40 in red. On postal stationary air mail envelope. Opened & resealed with tape by Censor. Addressed to Woldingham, Surrey.
