Image of island being appoached by crew in rowing boat with a description of where the island can be found, discovered in 1767, settlement in 1790, British possession in 1839, first postage stamps in 1940. Typed 'First Day Issue / Pitcairn Island / 4th June 1963'. 4th has been handwritten over 3rd (?). Two single ring cancellations for 'Pitcairn Island Post Office / 4 JE 63'. Few undulations on cover.
