fascinating Military cover from DAWLISH to Captain Harvest, HM 97th Regiment in Central India, scarce franking of 1862 9d (cut down wing margin at left, nice little circular white flaw in SW corner overwritten 'Stamped 10d' in ink square) and 1864 1d red. The recipient has opened out the envelope flaps and then proceeded to write down salient notes (aides-memoires) for his subsequent reply. Includes ascerbic comments about promotion.
