1938 UK-Melbourne Airmail franked KGV 9d & 6d, tied 'Salford 5 JAN 1938' pmk, single rate, carried on Imperial Airways flight IE617 which experienced dual incidents, commencing with (I) Coolangatta force-landing at Corfu Jan 10-11 owing to inclement weather, resuming the following day & (ii) relieved on Jan 15 by Aurora, that aircraft was unable to land at Delhi due to fog, & force-landed 50kms northwest. The aircraft was sl damaged, passengers & mail were transferred to Delhi by motor vehicle, thence load to Areghusa for resumption of the service, b/s Melbourne (Jan 22). Sanford #380115.
