Scarce (1853-54) M.A. Abrahams Missouri Token, Miller-Mo-41,
(1853-54) M.A. Abrahams, Weston, MO, Miller-MO-41,. Brass. This outstanding token was issued when Missouri was the jumping-off location for the Wild West. Merchants such as Abrahams provided goods for emigrants and traders who traveled in long wagon trains out to Oregon, New Mexico, California, and elsewhere. Abrahams was previously located in Independence, MO, in the 1830s and 1840s before moving to Weston. The token is about as nice as can be found. A similar piece in AU brought $330 in 1988, and an Uncirculated piece brought $450 in 1992. The obverse features a rendition of George Washington, with a denomination 10 below the bust. The reverse has a bit of dark staining that scarcely detracts from this rare and highly collectible Missouri token.
