Last date for bids:

GUATEMALA, 1871, 20c Blue, Error of Color (4c). Mint N.H. top right corner sheet-margin block of four with traces of adjoining stamps at left and bottom, Pos. 9-10/19-20, bold shade on bright paper

EXTREMELY FINE. A REMARKBLE MINT NEVER-HINGED CORNER SHEET-MARGIN BLOCK OF THE 20-CENTAVOS COLOR ERROR. MULTIPLES OF ANY SIZE ARE RARELY ENCOUNTERED. A SHOWPIECE OF GUATEMALAN PHILATELY.

The 20c Error of Color was originally considered color trials or proofs when they were first reported back in the late 19th century. Although, they are now considered with certainty to have been printed at the same time as the other values of this issue, invalidating that theory of these errors as proofs. Goodman states "rare in pairs or blocks".

Each stamp with expert's handstamp. Scott value 7,000.00 as singles with no premium for positional block (Image Magnifier)

Estimate $3000 - $4000
