lot # 689 - Sweden sweden coat of arms issue
EARLIEST KNOWN COAT OF ARMS COVER 26.6 58. 12 öre greenish dark blue on cover sent from ""PHILIPSTAD 26.6 1858"", 5 days before the öre stamps where to be used. Philipstad received 3 deliveries of 4 Sk. Bco stamps in 1858, each of 2.000 copies. The first deliveries of the Coat of Arms stamps where delivered 6.6 1858. It is possible that they ran out of 4 Sk. Bco stamps and therefore put a 12 öre on the cover instead. The cover also has dated contents so there is no doubt that it was sent during the Skilling Banco period. Also this first shade of the 12 öre is a scarce shade on cover. Cert. Obermüller Wilén. EXCEPTIONAL EXHIBITION ITEM.
