lot # 178 - world war two Concentration Camps, DP Camps, Ghettos and the like
Neutral official postcard imprinted with "Postkarte" in Latin script. About the imprint in black ink is the hstmp slogan 'Verpackt FELDPOSTPACK-CHEN gut und dauerhaft" (Pack army packages well and sturdily!) The card is addressed to a relative in Prague and was written in the extermination camp Birkenau (sub camp of Auschwitz) 8 January 1944 and postmarked in Berlin. Most of the stamp and a portion of cancellation have been removed. The card also bears the violet cachet "Ruckantwort nur auf Postkarten in deutcher Sprache ober die Reichsvereinigung Der Juden in Deutschland Berlin 65 lranischestrasse 2" (Lordahl type SC22b: Response only on postcards in the German Language through the Community Council of Jews in Germany, Berlin N65, lranische Strasse 2).
