USE OF ALTERNATIVE POSTAGE due to the San Juan EARTHQUAKE of January 1944: Cover sent from Rinconada (San Juan) to San Luis on 1/FE/1944 with 5c. postage covered with postal saving stamp of 5c., it was accepted because there was a shortage of postage stamps as the earthquake that had destroyed the stock in the main district of the provincial capital. It did not receive any dues, and on back it bears an arrival mark of Villa Mercedes 8/FE, VF quality, rare!
