M. Boulanger / Marecescheau Line 1844 (Dec 2): Entire letter from Lima, Peru to Bordeaux carried on the sailing ship "Mazeppa" of the M. Boulanger / Marecescheau Line annotated "6 Rs." in manuscript on reverse, with circular "AMER. SUD / PANAMA" datestamp of the French P.O. in Chagres in red (Dec 20) and on obverse with Consular "PANAMA" circular datestamp (Dec 22) in red. Thence carried on the RMSP "Tweed" to Southampton with 'Angl. / Boulogne' entry marking (Jan 24) in red and Bordeaux arrival cds on reverse, where charged '37' décimes to pay.
