RMSP & PSNC 1874: Cover from Port of Spain to Valparaiso, Chile addressed to His Excellency, the Hon. Arthur Cochrane on HMS Republic, endorsed "via Panama" at double rate, franked by 1863/76 (1 d.) rose pair, folded over top of envelope and 1 s. chrome-yellow horizontal pair, wmk. Crown CC, tied by double arc TRINIDAD datestamps (April 24) in black. "TRINIDAD / PAID" in red below. Multitude of mss. rates '8', 2/- and 2/1d. in red crayon on obverse. Carried on "Tyne" to Barbados, thence to St. Thomas with backstamp (May 3) in black, then per "Elbe" to Colon and PSNC Steamer to Valparaiso. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 171.
