Danube Steam Navigation Co 1844 (Aug 28): Entire letter from Braila to Constantinople struck with circular "D.D.S.G. / IBRAILA / P.P." in blue ink (Tchilinghirian fig. 802). An exceptional strike of this handstamp: the much more available oval Agency marking with gothic 'Ibraila' came into use shortly after this date. No example in the Hans Smith collection, the Lloyd Agency and Consular Office only opened in September 1845 - an extremely elusive marking.rnrn
