Austrian Fieldpost Offices during the Crimean War in Moldavia 1855c (Sept 25): Newspaper Stamp 'Blue Mercury' type IIIb, a fresh example with large even margins, cancelled by "FELDPOST No 2 25/9" cds of the Austrian Fieldpost (Müller 3443a = 600 points). Thins on the reverse not distracting from the beauty of this rare usage, the only Newspaper Stamp known to the describer to be used in the Crimean War Fieldpost. Signed Vaccari; Cert. E. Diena (1987), Ferchenbauer (2001). rnReference: Gertlieb Gmach - Österreichische Post in den Donaufürstentümern, vol. I, p. 202.rnNote: As the "Fieldpost No. 2" cds was also used during the occupation of the Italian States 1849-54 (Müller 322b) this postmark could have been used in principal also during this campaign. However, the type III offered here was not issued earlier than 1855 which shows the usage of this adhesive in Moldavia.
