Malta via Southampton". Reverse with Newport arrival (Jan 2, 1871) cds in black. A fine and interesting cover mailed per the P&O Steam Navigation Company.rnNote: Due to the Franco-Prussian war, this was the last journey with the option of travelling via Southampton or Marseilles, therefater Brindisi was used as the port of call.
