1860/72: Garter 6 d. violet perf. 13, a fine adhesive tied by two strikes of duplex "NSW SYDNEY NO 4 1870" datestamp in black to envelope to Newport, Shropshire, endorsed "Per R.M.S. Malta via Southampton". Reverse with Newport arrival (Jan 2, 1871) cds in black. A fine and interesting cover mailed per the P&O Steam Navigation Company.rnNote: Due to the Franco-Prussian war, this was the last journey with the option of travelling via Southampton or Marseilles, therefater Brindisi was used as the port of call.
