lot # 43 - Overseas guatemala
1879: The ubiquitous ¼ real black on buff postal stationery card, the reply half, used locally within Guatemala City cancelled by octagonal "Correos / Guatemala" datestamp in violet (Feb 28, 1879). The card, with tiny corner wrinkles mentioned for accuracy, is addressed to a German businessman from the Franco-German bussinessman, Sebastián Chenal trying to collect on a debt. Whilst amongst the most common of all unused postal stationery cards (the stock was purchased for use as advertising cards by Errington & Martin, stamp dealers in London), the card in used condition can be considered a rarity.
