1894: De La Rue Essay for the 5 c. postal stationery envelope, hand-painted in octagonal design in blue, grey and Chinese white, on tracing paper backed onto card for display (70 x 80 mm.). The central vignette in Chinese white not picked out in detail as this design was already in use. A unique and splendid Essay, ex the De La Rue archives.
