International Postal Connections to Europe - Italy 1864 (July 8): Cover from Varna to Genova, endorsed "Via Corfu & Roma", franked with 1863 Arms 3 s. green, 10 s. blue and 15 s. brown, all perf. 14, fresh colours, tied centrally by light "LLOYD AGENZIE VARNA 8/7" cds's (Tchilinghirian fig. 939) with "P.D." in blue and framed "PIROSCAFI / POSTALI / AUSTRIACI" alongside. Reverse with Ancona transit and Genova arrival cds (July 30). File fold well away from the adhesives and datestamps, minor imperfections to the stamps, not distracting from a beautiful cover, illustrated and discussed in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 412.
