Day 3 - Great Britain, British Colonies, Pre-Union South Africa - the Besançon Collection (Part Ii)

1847/54: Embossed 6 d. purple with good to large margins all round used in combination with 1854/57 1 d. red-brown on blued, perf. 14, used on registered 1856 cover to Dublin tied by London '21' numeral obliterators in black with "Throgmorton St." straight line below in blue. Manuscript "Registered" twice at top and oval London despatch in red (Nov 3), with rare DUBLIN / REGISTERED arrival (Nov 4) in black all on obverse of the cover. Manuscript notation "Enclosing transfer of £500" at left, the adhesives crossed by ironed file fold and 6 d. with pinhole but a scarce and attractive usage.
