1870: 1½ d. lake-red, Plate 1, used examples (8) including one with the OP-PC error of lettering, this unfortunately defective due to an attack by Silverfish, all used on 1873 entire letter at double rate from Manchester to Lisbon, Portugal and tied by '498' duplexes (April 6) in black. Oval framed FRANCA applied over 'PD' in red and reverse with Lisbon arrival. A remarkable cover - the largest recorded franking with an OP-PC error and the highest recorded franking of the 1½ d. adhesive from Plate 1. A rarity. Detailed account of this cover on cert.
