1841: 1 d. red-brown on blued, a used example, just touched at top, used on 1850 cover from London to the Lloyd's Agent at Portsmouth for transmission to 'John Leyland Feilden' in Durban, Natal, tied by London '8'0 numeral obliterator in black. Reverse with 'T.P./Norwood' in blue and part strikes of London and Portsmouth cds's. A most unusual usage. Opinion Holcombe (1991).rnrnNote: John Leyland Feilden (1821-1915) had a sugar plantation and farm in Durban in what is now Umbilo.
