1727 (Nov 16): Entire letter from London to the Sorbonne in Paris, written in scribe's or perhaps a child's French, struck with fine Bishop Mark "16/NO" displaying well on flap, charged '10' sols on arrival. Interesting comments regarding the Julian calendar (in use in England) and the French calendar (already Gregorian) at the base of the letter: at the time 11 days apart.
