British Protectorate 1815-1864 1852 (Aug 26): Entire letter from Zante to Boston, USA forwarded via Baring Brothers in London, endorsed "via Triest" with hooded "ZANTE" despatch in blue and rated "3" pence for local fee in manuscript, Triest transit cds on reverse (Aug 28) and "FRANCO / GRENZE" in black, thence via "Coeln / Verviers" TPO in red (Sept 2) and London (Sept 3). Carried on Cunard "Niagara" to Boston where charged "19 / Cents" due in black. A scarce Transatlantic usage that opens well for Exhibit display. Signed Proschold.
