Second French Occupation 1807-1809/1814 1808 (May 21): Three and half page letter dictated and signed by Napoleon Bonaparte at Meneval to Général Clarke, concerning Corfu - "You will find a report on Corfu which will make you relalise the necessity of your intervention concerning this island. Général Donzelot has raised his budget to 1 million a month...Corfu is not the only place in France on my mind...". The letter states how to reduce costs and measures to be taken added at lower left. French transliteration accompanies the lot. Signed clearly at base with "Nap" signature. Rare.
