1853 (Sept): 4 d. deep blue on blued paper, a used example with clear to good margins all round, used on 1854 cover to Chichester, Sussex endorsed "per Gloriana", lightly tied in black by CGH triangular obliterator. Reverse with oval framed CAPE TOWN despatch (Oct 17) and circular CAPE TOWN / CAPE OF GOOD HOPE datestamp in red; upon arrival struck with London cds (Dec 11), WEST WITTERING undated circular handstamp in blue, Chichester cds in blue and readdressed to East Marsden, Petersfield where charged "9d." in manuscript (8 d. Ship + 1 d. for re-direction).
