1857/1951: Collection, predominately unused material and a number of covers contained within one red Marini album comprising 40 pages, includes a number of sets especially the George V period. Also several better early incl. 1857 2 d. yellowish-green imperforate (Gi 3a) unused lovely delicate colour large margins all round without gum (RPSL cert.), 1859 2 s. dull blue imperforate (Gi 12) used with ample to large margins all round fresh colour lightly cancelled by barred obliterator in black has small thin spot,1859 9 d. purple-brown on white paper imperforate (Gi 8) used fine colour with ample to large even margins (Signed Roumet), also 1862/64: 1 s. 9 d. light green rough perf. 14 to 15½ (prepared for use but unissued) unused fine colour (Gi 36) with small age spot at lower right and large part og. handstamped C.J. Phillips in blue on reverse (RPSL cert.), 1872/80 De La Rue Definitive complete set of eleven values (Gi 121-132) unused including 8 c. shade all fair to fine some imperfections with part to large part og. - a rare set. Many of the latter sets have matching Specimen sets and as well as interesting covers there are five Proofs of which two are Master Dies of the value tablet only. Much more to discover but a fine collection Gi = £ 14'445. Note: Charles James Phillips RDP (1863-1940), purchased the firm of Stanley Gibbons in 1890 for £ 25'000. He remained with the company until 1922, when he emigrated to the USA, arranging the sale of the Arthur Hind collections - which were a fantastic success even though sold during the Great Depression.
