lot # 2150 - europe Greece
Outgoing to Greek foreign post offices; 1862/67: Unpaid cover from Piraeus to Constantinople, struck by PIRAEUS despatch cds (March 31, 1864), charged upon arrival with 145 lepta in red crayon and franked with Consecutive Athens printing 5 l. green, 20 l. blue, 40 l. mauve and 80 l. rose-carmine, tied by "KONSTANTIN TORKIA" arrival (April 3) cds. The adhesives in fresh colours and with overall fair to large margins, filing folds well away from the appealing four-colour franking, an unusual combination to pay the Greek double rate of 40 lepta plus the shipmail rate fro a cover between 25-30 gram when traverlling with a French vessel.
