1857: Local envelope from Port Louis to a Miss Muriel Harvey in Mahebourg, endorsed "care of John Duigate, Corps 5th Fusiliers" struck with framed "INDLAND" and "♚ / MAURITIUS / GPO" datestamp (Jan 5) in black. Reverse with octagonal framed "Mahebourg / JA 5 1857" arrival in black. Small faults not least the probability of a 1 d. 'Post Paid' being removed at lower left. Nevertheless a most unusual internal usage at this date.
